About

Margaret Robinson Martin has been practicing family law exclusively for more than twenty-five years. Margaret’s passion is assisting her clients in navigating what is undoubtedly one of the most emotionally trying moments of their lives – a divorce or family law matter, where their fortunes and their families are at stake. Margaret’s dedication to her clients and her unwavering advocacy for their interests are evident both inside the courtroom and at the negotiating table.

While Margaret handles some of the most difficult custody and parenting time matters imaginable, Margaret’s practice is focused primarily on high-asset divorce actions, typically involving closely-held businesses and complex financial holdings and structures where creativity – and confidentiality – in forging solutions through settlement, when possible, is preferred to litigation. However, Margaret knows that the best result for the client is obtained by rigorously pushing for answers and information, whether that be formally through the litigation process or informally before litigation begins. In that way, Margaret’s clients know that while settlement is always the goal, if their case needs to be resolved through trial, they are fully prepared and ready for the fight.

Moreover, Margaret’s philosophy is to always be honest and open with her clients. She presents an early and realistic assessment of how their case is likely to resolve, and, knowing that family law matters are dynamic, she remains nimble, pivoting at a moment’s notice when circumstances change to ensure that the client is always well informed.

Over her quarter-century of practice, Margaret has helped hundreds of clients through the emotional minefield of a family law case. Her goal is always to move her clients from beginning to end as quickly and efficiently as possible.

Among the many accolades that Margaret has received over the course of her career, she has been listed every year since 2022 in “Band 1” by the prestigious Chambers & Partners for High Net Worth Matrimonial and Family Law attorneys. Similarly, she has been named a Georgia Super Lawyer every year since 2022, and she has been listed among the Best Lawyers in America since 2019 by Best Lawyers. She was also selected by her peers as one of Georgia’s “Legal Elite” by Georgia Trend Magazine in 2019.

Outside of her practice, Margaret is dedicated to giving back to the community. She is constantly devoting her time to causes about which she is passionate. Among her many charitable efforts, Margaret currently serves as the Vice Chair of the Advisory Board at the Emory Winship Cancer Institute, and she was the Co-Chair of Winship’s annual Gala in 2023, helping to raise millions of dollars to advance Winship’s important work in the field of fighting cancer.

After graduating magna cum laude from Wake Forest University in 1992 with a bachelor’s degree, Margaret earned her law degree from Valparaiso University Law School in 1995, where she also graduated with magna cum laude honors.

Margaret and her husband live in Atlanta and are the parents of three children.
